Five members of University of Maryland to compete at the Junior Women’s World Cup

Dragflick Newsdesk : Five Maryland field hockey student-athletes will compete with the U.S. National Team in the Junior World Cup beginning this weekend in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Belle Bressler, Emma DeBerdine, Riley Donnelly, Hope Rose and incoming grad transfer Leah Crouse will compete for Team USA.

The U.S. is in Pool A, along with Canada, The Netherlands and Zimbabwe. It will open vs. The Netherlands at 7:00 a.m. ET Friday, April 1, followed by a 7:00 a.m. ET match with Zimbabwe on Saturday, April 2. To round out pool play, the Americans will take on Team Canada at 11:30 a.m. ET on Monday, April 4.

The next rounds will start on Thursday, April 7 with competition wrapping up on Tuesday, April 12.

The Junior World Cup was scheduled for December 2021, but the FIH postponed it to April, due to the Omicron variant outbreak.
