Dragflick Newsdesk : The National Women’s Special Project Squad finished the 2022 Women’s Asian Cup Championship campaign at the Sultan Qaboos Complex, Muscat, Oman, in fifth place after beating Thailand 3-0 in their last action today.

Even sweeter when today’s match saw the National Captain, Juliani Mohamad Din, selected as the best player of the match and the fifth place won by the National Women’s Special Project Squad, matching the previous edition tournament record (2017) in Kakamigahara, Japan.

The National Women’s Squad opened the scoring in the fifth minute through a field goal by Nur Afiqah Syahzani Azhar who cleverly welcomed the ball away from Nuraini Abdul Rashid and beat the Thai goalkeeper, Siraya Yimkrajang in a one -on -one situation.

Thailand were rewarded with a penalty corner kick in the eighth minute and the opportunity to return to tie the score, however, did not work when the national goalkeeper, Siti Zalia Nasir acted brilliantly to save the national goal.

In the 22nd minute, Malaysia added a goal after the advantage of the penalty corner was completed by the National Captain, Juliani Mohamad Din who did a direct flick and the Thai goalkeeper’s mistake when trying to save the situation saw Malaysia’s second goal come to fruition.

One minute after the fourth quarter started, Malaysia had the advantage of a penalty corner shot and it was used well by the National Women’s Squad when the planned “set-pieces” resulted in the third goal as a result of finishing by Raja Norsharina Raja Shabuddin.

Malaysia had a chance to add a fourth goal in the 50th minute, when once again rewarded with a penalty corner but this time the first Thai runner managed to block a direct flick by Nuraini Abdul Rashid to prevent the national squad from adding a goal.

One minute before the actual action of the match ended, the national goalkeeper, Zalia Nasir once again acted brilliantly by saving a try from Suwapat Konthong and the 3-0 position remained to close the match.
