Malaysia Women’s Hockey team trounce Indonesia in Classification round

Dragflick Newsdesk : The National Women’s Special Project Squad advanced to the 5th and 6th place determination of the 2022 Women’s Asian Cup Championship at the Sultan Qaboos Complex, Muscat, Oman, after beating Indonesia 6-0 in the 5th to 8th place classification match which took place today .

Malaysia will meet Thailand who recorded a 1-0 victory over Singapore in another classification match today and Malaysia‘s action with Thailand tomorrow is like a repeat of the 2017 edition meeting in Kakamigahara, Japan.

The 6-0 victory recorded by Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim’s squad today was the result of three field goals and three penalty corner goals with Nuraini Abdul Rashid contributing two goals while Raja Norsharina Raja Shabuddin, Nuramirah Shakirah Zulkifli, Nor Asfarina Isahyifiqa Isahhidun and Fatin Shafika Mahd Sukri each scored one goal.

As early as the third minute of the match, Malaysia opened the scoring as a result of Raja Norsharina Raja Shabuddin’s field movement who received a pass from Hanis Nadiah Onn into the goal area and made a shot to the top right of the opponent’s goal, for the first goal.

Two minutes later, Malaysia were awarded a penalty corner kick and Nuraini Abdul Rashid completed the shot to keep Malaysia comfortable in front. The 2-0 lead remained closing the action of the first half.

Continuing the second half, a minute before the end of the third quarter, the Indonesian player’s mistake when trying to block Hanis Nadiah Onn’s pass was used by Nuramirah Shakirah Zulkifli for Malaysia’s third goal.

In the last quarter of the match, Malaysia scored three more goals starting with a field goal by Nuraini Abdul Rashid in the 49th minute, Malaysia added the fifth goal as a result of a penalty corner in the 52nd minute through the finish of Nor Asfarina Isahyifiqa Isahhidun.

Five minutes before the actual time of the match ended, it was Fatin Shafika Mahd Sukri’s turn to make her name as the scorer after completing the penalty corner shot awarded to Malaysia and the match ended with a 6-0 victory recorded by the National Women’s Squad.

Malaysia will go down for the last action of the tournament, which is the determination of the 5th and 6th place against Thailand, at 11 pm Malaysian time.
