USA U21 Women’s National team & National Development team announced
Dragflick Newsdesk : Following a four-day selection camp to begin the 2022 program, the U.S. Women’s National Team High Performance Staff has announced the first group of athletes that have been named to the 2022 U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team and U.S. Women’s National Development Team.
“This was a tough selection process with so much talent on display at the camp, but we’re confident we’ve selected a balanced, all-round squad with athletes who can develop and compete under the pressure of international competition,” said Tracey Paul, U-21 USWNT Head Coach.
“I am excited to begin working with this group and look forward to seeing what they can achieve.”
“I’d like to thank all the athletes who participated in the recent selection camp – their passion and dedication to the sport and personal growth is not just inspiring, but an invaluable contribution to Team USA’s success,” said Rachel Dawson, Development USWNT Head Coach.
“The athletes selected to the U.S. Women’s National Development Team have demonstrated attributes necessary for successful contribution at the senior international level. Over the course of the next year, we will focus on preparing and developing this core group of athletes for senior international hockey. Ultimately, the goal of the Women’s Development Team is to expand the quality of athletes pushing for selection to Team USA, because the strength of the group isn’t who’s in it, it is who’s left out.”
The 22 athletes selected to the 2022 U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team and the eight athletes selected to the 2022 U.S. Women’s National Development Team were named following their performances at the Selection Camp at Queens University of Charlotte. This pool consisted of athletes selected from the 2021 Young Women’s National Championship along with a small group of players who were identified by U.S. Women’s National Team High Performance Staff during the 2021 collegiate season.
